ReGen® – There are other software applications on the market but most of these are separate applications for collection, processing and analysing. ReGen® is different as it does it all in one package, unlocking your survey data for instant accessibility. ReGen is not rocket science, just very clever!
The science bit
The core of ReGen® is a jolly big server sat in a data centre with a very fast data link to the internet. We use Google Maps as your main interface as its simple to use and very accessible. This displays networks, survey data and the results. Every User has a unique log in to access their information only; it's very secure so no sneaky peeks at your neighbouring Authority’s data.
Operation is simple, the network is uploaded online and the survey type configured – you can even use ReGen® to store your entire network if you want to then just select areas for surveying. Our Survey Manager will then allocate your network to one or more Surveyors whose PDA’s are automatically loaded with your details.
During the survey the data returns back to the Server and is optimised using your own parameters to see the road condition colour coded in the traditional red, amber and green. You can even download your own HMDIF on any or all of the dataset.

How much does this add to the survey cost?
Absolutely nothing! And the software is free! Well, almost. Any Highway Authority who uses The Highway Surveyors or another Survey Contractor that has ReGen will have all the internet benefits completely free. But, whoever actually collects the data has a very small charge per kilometre for the survey data they upload to the ReGen® portal. That means ReGen® is far more economical to use for small data collection exercises as the collection organisation only pays for the length it actually surveys, not by huge licence fees. Its literally pay as you go data collection - and we even hire out the kit!
